+ PDFs ganz einfach lesen

New update for Expert 6, 6.0: new update is 6.0.1 and 88.mb from 89. I'm afraid if I update again, I'll lose a feature or something else unless I do extensive testing. This update says the same listed features as the new release statement for 6.0. So I'm wondering what is being taken away because the ads are the same unless I'm mistaken. Even went down a MB, in size, what's missing? just wish I could get back my old trusted Expert 5.

Size has nothing to do with how many features an app has or how good it is. Efficient coding makes for a smaller size, among many other possibilities.

Your fear is totally irrational. You have nothing to worry about.

Hallo,
Yes you can; I just did it on my iPhone. In edit mode you can copy a PDF as a single or from a group then split another group of PDFs and paste, then reorder however you like and just keep on adding as you wish, in the order you prefer. It sounds complex but it was super easy. Not a big fanfic PDF provider anymore because of crash issues, but if it works for you then use it.
There are a few ways you can do it in PZdF Expert but here is how to merge tutorial from the website. The website also tells you how to do everything else in the app in many different languages.

https://m.pdfexpert.com/ios/how-to/how-to-merge-pdf

Hope that helps.

Most everyone complaining have zero clue, about the editing features that were changed and added or the new password protection for files, that was added, ease of use and complete redo in the look and the much larger, easier to see folders and files. Serious people in business, entrepreneurs, and students have already updated without hesitation. People that have just recently purchased the app need to contact the developer, show proof and work something out, instead of moaning in a forum over something you haven't even attempted to resolve or know nothing about because one hasn't even tried the update or contacted Readdle. It's much easier just to cry, bitch and moan over something that is not that big of a deal.
Try doing something productive, it might actually work out for you.
Now, if you've owned this app for years and never paid for a major overhaul, too bad, that's how all software works.
Plus, you have other file managing and PDF options if are that upset.
I've changed apps because I didn't like where a developer was heading; not a big deal.

Can you prove your claim? Which functions do you think are missing?

Indeed I did not find *anything* missing. If you download V6, you have *all* the features you had in V5.

You have the *possibility* to do an IAP for an extended version (Pro) with great new features, but you don't need to.

You can delude yourself into thinking it's a whole new app, but once you face reality, it's the same app you bought from 4.99-6.99, awhile ago with editing and redacting feature for 10.00. So your not a cheapskate, and have money to spare, well good for you!

@wg55:
Well, how would you"your majesty" know what has changed in the app since you choose not to buy it? I hate to break it to you but I've used this app since it it originated, everyday, on the iPhone, the iPad and more recently the Mac, so I think I am familiar with what it was previously and what it is now because I did pay for it, so I get to see the differences, therefore, not pulling "bitter" guesswork out of my ass.
It is very different, very awesome; so sorry for the people crying over a choice and not a mandatory change. If the app hasn't changed and others are more than willing to pay for features you say do not exist, are so delusional, why are you so upset?
So don't pay; shouldn't be a big deal to you at all.
Also, the Developer has many other great apps they offer in bundles at at deep discount, on sales and they update constantly without charge, so PDF Expert which is their signature app, is helping them make a living while allowing you and others the luxury of using their other apps without having to pay for years of free updates and to use their free app "Documents" which is probably what you need.
So, if these changes to PDF Expert are merely delusions, I am enjoying my " delusions" immensely :)

I am one of their loyal app customers and did pay the $9.99 for the upgrade. If you actually paid for it you would realize it is practically a new app with features like the ones recently added to the Mac. There are way more edit features, edit in cloud "like dropbox" and the look is totally different, with files and thumbnails bigger and easier to see and less steps to to accomplish things, plus a fresh, more modern look. It is a universal app so say you have the iPhone and iPad you pay once for both, so it's actually $5 a piece.
If someone cannot afford it that is one thing but developers support you by keeping their apps working and up to date not to be your slaves for the rest of their lives because you want to be a cheap ass. This is a complete revamp of the app and if you don't want it, other's will. I think Readdle will adjust. Personally, I thought the Mac update was superior and this is just a continuation of that update, into IOS.
People that actually use it everyday in business, for school, or as their file system will love it and find nothing else comes close.

Yes, if both devices are under same user name then it is $9.99 for all your IOS devices. I paid $9.9 for phone upgrade, then it it updated. I went to my pad and it asked same question "do you want to pay"?
It's confusing because seems like will pay again but I cluck yes and it says "you have already paid do you want it for free?" I click yes and do not pay twice. If want more informative go to @readdle on Twitter and they are answering questions about it. You don't have to buy it to keep using the app. You don't lose anything if don't buy.

Don't be naive.
READDLE is notorious for making an app free, and then ending the app version to bring out a totally new app making you pay for the new update - but in a new app version. I see them do this constantly. It is a subtle form of bait-and-switch.

The main disadvantage - READDLE only makes apps free when they plan to discontinue it soon, and then coming out with a new version that you must pay - leaving [you] with an obsolete version unless [you] pay for the new version.

I think the biggest problem with the App Store and major app updates is that there isn't really a good way to charge a discounted price for updates. To continue your comparison with desktop apps, I don't mind paying for updates to desktop apps as long as there is special update pricing (perhaps %50 off of retail), but I don't want to pay full price twice.

Now, mobile apps are usually a fraction of the price of desktop apps to start with so I probably shouldn't mind so much paying full price twice, but I can't help how I feel. Maybe a good solution would be to release a new version as a separate app, and have a new release sale that is advertised as being special update pricing (ought of course it would be available to everyone).

Not sure.

Actually, NO - not "all" developers do this.

The fact of the matter is, very few do this. Believing this crap is opening your mouth wide-open, and allowing Tim Cook to teabag you.

Go to the App Store, press update, and look at all of the apps that are updating for free. It is against the entire philosophy of the App Store to pull this kind of horse shit.

Put your thinking cap on.

Better app for reading in single page mode than Good Reader, didn't use annotation functionality that much. It just scrolls smooth and aligns pages to the screen much better than other PDF viewers. On other hand, GRs double page mode, very useful too. I own both apps and like both. If there would be an app with PE5s smooth scrolling and GRs double page modes, it would be my favorite. Right now this is simply best app for reading in single page mode.

-Also kommt mal runter; ich finde Readdle macht 'ne super Arbeit!

GoodReader did the same exact thing! Paid Full Price for GoodReader for iPad, and then they decide to abandon that app, forcing people to switch to their new "GoodReader4" as the older one is no longer supported. And all the files and everything already stored and worked on with the previous version DO NOT automatically transfer over! Everything has to be manually brought over by uploading all the old files and then downloading them to the new version.

I guess the only difference is that, because they made a whole new app, forcing everyone to re-buy and have to do a whole lot of shit just to get your old files to their new, amazing, wonderful app (did I mention that with the new version some features ppl loved have actually been removed), GoodReader4, at least in the beginning and only for a limited time, was offered at a 60% (I believe?) discount for $2.99, to compensate for all the people who already trusted the developers and paid full price for the previous version. Isn't that sweet??? Pay Full Price for one version, then have to pay again for the update, and if you missed the "limited time discount" then, well, you're screwed and have to pay Full Price once again. Yea, real sweet of them…

I guess that's just how people roll these days. Screw loyal customers and screw decency – just so they can try to make a quick buck. It's really sad. And worse, it seems that – especially these days – the only beings capable of, and who actually are TRULY Unconditionally LOYAL, no matter what is done to them , are dogs!! If people were HALF as loyal as dogs are, things would be sooo different!
But until that happens, I guess we just have to either cough up the cash, or keep searching for something new…

I'm surprised at the aggressive replies. We're taking abut $10 here, not really a down payment on a new capital purchase. I understand it's all relative and this is in the higher range for apps; it will be interesting to see if this app delivers at this price point and this strategy. I've used their products for years and been pleased. I will have a look at the enhancements and then decide to upgrade, continue with the current app or move to a competitor.

I put this info in a reply to my original post but for those who might not go through replies I thought I would copy it here because it may be of interest:

I wrote to Readdle and told them how unhappy I was with their choice to charge me $10 to upgrade and to remove my version from the store as it indicated that my version would no longer be supported. They responded by telling me that they couldn't afford to offer the upgrade for free because it took 9 months to develop. They also said that they would continue support of the older version for a year. Gee, thanks guys. If I knew there was an expiration date on their app I would have purchased from another developer. I purchased Readdle because of customer reviews. I think those glowing reviews will take a hit now.

I wrote back to tell them that the very least they could have done was to explain this charge to their paying customers and offer a discount to those who already paid for this app. If I have to pay full price for the upgrade I see no reason to not to jump ship and try out another app instead. It's not like they are the only show in town.
So far nobody has responded to my reply. I don't imagine they will. After all, what can they say? It was a poor choice for the long run. I'm sure many people will be looking at other options.

So if you develop something over several months, you don't want to get paid?
It's common to pay for software upgrades everywhere on the world (or do you get all future versions of MS Office, Windows or anything else just by paying once?). So why not on the AppStore? Even companies like Rovio charge for new apps - and make more money with real life toys and more.
Apple just doesn't provide any tools to charge for an update or to reduce the price of an app only for selected customers.
I think it's on Apple to improve their developer utilities.

How do you expect them to make money if you can't even pay $3 once a year? Even they eat food and have to pay the bills.

We all need to come out of that mode where we expect free updates for years. If you need and like a product then dont hesitate in supporting the developer as long as he/she is fair.

You may think that all I m saying is crap but try to put yourself on developer's shoes and think about spending so much time and energy on a product without getting any return for years, will you do it? I will definitely not as I have family to support.

Recently I came across this article and I understand now how it feels to be a developer in a crowded App Store. Have a read. http://blog.jaredsinclair.com/post/93118460565/a-candid-look-at-unreads-first-year

I used iAnnotate since iPad1 - maybe for 2 or 3 years - and I can tell you there is no app with better renderization for scanned .pdf files. The new version is fail: the devs remove brightness control (that you could reduce bright screen less than ios minimum, excellent at low light conditions) and the new design is so ios7 inspired, it means, this all-flat-hurt-my-eyes-white. It is absolutely not glorious as before. I am using the previous version but even so I recommended it because it is a solid app for hard pdf users at the same price (9.99). And create an alert price here for PDF Max Pro (mobeera dev). Sometimes it is free and I tested the new version (3.1) and it is not bad. The design is similar to iAnnotate but not so good at all. But for free or 0.99 it is fine (i strongly recommended do not pay to much for it; this app was very problematic on previous versions but now it seems the devs find the way).

P.s.: ah, I forgot to mention that iAnnotate has never charged for any upgrades that they made (I just paid 1 time and all upgrades since v1 were free). And i am with you, i means, charge for upgrades is a disgusting behavior.

This is the worst excuse that I've ever heard. Charge new users is evident but charge full price from old user is nasty. I really think their credibility is down to the drain because nothing guarantees that users (new or old) will not be charged again for new updates since they "take nine months" to make it. And guess what, the old version is abandonware.

I remember MagicalPad HD even after updating entire app and add great new features not charged a penny from old users (and they sent codes to validate the new version to old customers with update issues). Absolutely fair business.

In fact, I was thinking to buy and test it (even knowing it will not be better than iAnnotate, speciality if the renderization is similar to Documents by Readdle) but now I will not spend a cent on it.
aMused

Even worse, I read in the reviews of the new product that they had a 'Black Friday' sale on the old version just before releasing this. If this is true, brand new customers ended up paying $15 if they wanted to upgrade after owning the old version for just a few days.

That is beyond recouping costs, that is flat out greedy! Nasty business practice.

Also, it seems pretty suspicious to me that right after all the bad reviews about what they did to their customers, suddenly today the new version is padded with good reviews. Methinks they are playing foul with the reviews by getting employees to write good reviews to bury the negative comments. Can you spell spin control?
Hiroshi
(05.12.13 - 18:38)
@aMused:
I saw the black friday off: 4,99. I almost bought it but luckily I read at iTunes that they said the old version did not give the right to update. What?! 4,99 for an abandonware? They should be kidding. I do not understand why they do this, speciality considering Documents by Readdle is an awesome app (better than many paid apps) and is totally free. Readdle had a good reputation but this one was a shot in the foot. Credibility is better than make easy money.

You are right. Now certainly fake reviews will appear. But costumers are not so dumb as they think.

Hiroshi
(06.12.13 - 14:49)
@兰夕张:
You are right. It is disgusting. 4,99 for an app that would be abandoned and removed from iTunes store after 3 days?? I think Readdle has a very different concept about what "fair" means.

In my opinion the previous should have been free or .99 for 24 hours and then removed from itunes. So if the costumers that bought it want more features just buy the new version, if the previous version is ok just use it knowing that the app would be discontinued. It would be fair at my taste.

There's no need to be mean to each other here, fellow AZ'ers! Apptime was simply giving a friendly FYI to us all, and I very much appreciate when others help me out with apps like the PDF readers and such, since I'm not very informed about those type of app (I mostly do the photo apps). So, please don't get angry at others for giving us assistance? If we do, then they will stop, and I very much appreciate all the assistance we get from our fellow AZ'ers here! It's one of my favorite things about AppZapp: we have the ability to comment before purchasing an app, so we give heads as up to the pros and cons of the apps to each other! Besides, it's the holidays!!! Lol! Time for cheer! We all have different opinions, and no one can MAKE anyone else buy or not buy anything here, so let's all please benefit from the knowledge of one another and not take offense when someone gives us some friendly advice? Especially since I don't believe Apptime meant anything offensive by his assistance? I'd really appreciate it, all!!!

At £6.99/$9.99 for both this and the older version this is not the type of price tag that developers can expect people to pay again and again. Why should people buy their apps if they're just going to release new ones with any substantial improvement ? Clearly not the trustable developer I thought this was.

Warum ein neues App statt ein Update.

Why no update for old version and make a new App.
