Shift 2.0 allows you to create thousands of custom photo filters by combining textures, color overlays, and blends to produce stylish effects like grain, vintage, light leaks, and high contrast black and whites. Completely redone from the ground up, Shift 2.0 gives you full control over each element of the photo filter to achieve beautiful and unique finish to your photos.

Textures

Shift 2.0 is preloaded with 37 original textures that add film grain, dust, and light leaks that can be repositioned, scaled, rotated, and repeated to your heart's content. The strength of the texture can also be adjusted separately from the strength of the color overlays, meaning you can decide whether the texture, color, or both takes the main stage. Complete texture manipulation like this is the first in the realm of photo filtering.

Colors Overlays

Shift 2.0 provides striking color overlay presets that can be easily tweaked and customized. In its most basic form, color overlays can be a single color, which changes the tone of the entire picture. Color gradients that combine the overlay color from one to another provide an even more stunning look, simulating effects like light leaks or the look or vintage film.

Shift 2.0's innovative approach to color gradients comes in two flavors - two-point control or three-point control. Each individual point, which represents the focus of each color, can be moved, repositioned, rotated, and zoomed allowing for even more control of how the colors fade into each other, producing incredible outcomes.

Blends

Blends bring everything together by combining the original photo with the color overlay and texture. Every blend produces a different result - switching between them will produce another entirely different effect even with the same color overlay and texture. Altogether, Shift 2.0 has seven blend modes including standard Photoshop favorites such as multiply, overlay, additive, and screen, as well as custom blends like desaturate and psychedelic.

Favorites

Even though creating custom filters that are perfect for each photo is half the fun, favorites let you save and name their go-tos for quick and easy access for the next photo. Of course, the favorites can be adjusted themselves and be used as a starting point for yet another custom filter. There is no limit to the number of favorites that can be saved.

Features

* Create thousands of beautiful photo filters by mixing textures, color gradients, and blends
* 23 sample filters - Use them as starting points or make new ones from scratch
* 12 color overlay presets and color wheel - Pick a color overlay preset and use the color wheel to achieve the perfect look
* 37 original textures that can be moved, scaled, rotated, and repeated
* Fine tuned control over color gradients - Adjust position, strength, and direction
* 7 blend modes including multiply, overlay, additive, and screen
* Image adjustments like brightness, contrast, saturation, and temperature
* Save and name an unlimited number of custom photo filters to your favorites

I agree. Pixite are good devs & they make good apps. I like Shift for layered artwork (rather than just running a photo through it). And it's got that random fx - into it's always good to have a play with the random button to get to know what an app can do

Interesting Fx. Does take a little Getty used to. Not your typical preset-driven app. Saves at full resolution up to 4096 on the long side (11mp), tested on iPad Air.

I just got this app when it was free, Dec 25, AM. Saves at full resolution on iPhone 6. It is still a new app so will no doubt change a bit with suggestions. I think it needs a way to reset the photo to original. I found it difficult to find any filter effect that improved the photo rather than make it worse but I am just getting used to the app. I like to know what I'm doing when I edit a photo and this app kept me guessing what would happen next. Could not find any consistency in what the 3 adjustment circles did.

@me:
Disappointed in the save resolution, 2048 long side.
It is easy to alter the effect which are mostly gradients though some do have a texture element in them via two sliders one for intensity, one for hue. You can drag them around and twist them so you can get some neat looks really quick.
Would like to see presets as icons to pick from, right now it is purely random so that can be a bit of a pain.
You can stack effects if you want but it merges the prior effect with the image so you can't revert back.
I suppose for $0.99 it is worth it but I would like as a very minimum iPhone 8mp size and even better with 4096 or TaruCamera size. I have already sent them feedback so will see what they say.

I did suggest that with the current resolution they would probably have more then a few unhappy customers.

Why is it so hard for devs to implement full image resolution saving mechanism in their apps?

lzmini
(18.12.14 - 22:25)
@Apptime:
I don't know why developers do this crap either. Every photo app should do at least the same resolution as an iPhone 8mp or better yet higher, apps like TaruCamera or Cortex are around the 12mp.
I would think that it would be easy to do, this seems to be mainly gradients so it should be capable of more.

Thanks a lot for your anwser and review. Really dissapointing!

Just had a quick lock at he's other apps i have.

"Fragment" does save with full resolution.

With his App "Union" - i'm pretty sure i could save full resolution there in the past. While retested a few minutes ago, i got 2048 long side. I just updated because of low resolution - and because the description says it will be possible to save with full resolution - after that now i've got 1024! long side, on an iPhone 5s. On an another one (iPhone 5) i've got 2048 long side if i flatted the picture, if not i've got full resolution. So on that one i'm confused, and have to figure out what the problem is (all on iOS7).

Long story short, since he have other apps which does saves 'full', there is still a chance he'll improve this one too (hopefully). ... (disappointed right now with those Union-issue i have -.-)

On my iPad 3 I get:
Shift - 2048 long side
Matter - 2048 long side
Union - 2048 long side (Superimose is 3264 long side)
Tangent - 4096 long side
Fragment - 4096 long side
He seems to like these two sizes, just wish they were all the 4096 not the smaller. Problem is that for the most part I do like his apps so I am always torn if I want to get it to find lower resolution then I would like....

@AppTime:
Their reply that I got a little while ago...
If the device does not have enough resources available (may be too many other apps open) the app will go into low memory mode and limit image size to 2048x2048. It's not obvious when it changes to this mode but they are working on making it better in the future.

If I shut all other apps and do a power off/on and use the app it does save at 4096x4096 resolution or 4096 long side. It's just remembering to close other apps and maybe doing the power off/on.

Do any of you recall, a few months back there was an app that would check memory and clean the memory up. I can't seem to find it any more and can't recall the name.

Given that it will save 4096 long side for $0.99 I think it is worth it, heck I liked it with 2048 just like it a lot better knowing that it can do 4096.
May have to try their other apps Union and Matter, maybe they all save at 4096 and I am simple having fragmented memory from other app not releasing it properly....
lzmini
(20.12.14 - 03:41)
@me:
@Apptime:

Well, I just checked both Union and Matter and both right now with nothing else running and after doing the power off/on all all saving at max 4096x4096.

So I guess it's more imperative to find that memory clearing app either that or before I start an editing session to do the power off/on

I have the same problem, my iPad is always close to full. What's the old saying about a mans toys expand to fit the available space. I had the same problem with the iPad 2 32gig it was always full so when I got the iPad 3 I got the biggest at the time a 64gig, just means I have more apps on it. Of course 6-7 months later Apple had the 128gig, if I had of waited I would have got it, oh well.

I am still contemplating an Air 2, just have to find the money

I exactly know this :). Lucky me i could jump the first Air with 128GB and that it is really cool. But i had to stop the automatic download there, otherwise i'm sure it would be the nearly as on iPhone (with 64GB). I love to have my music in high quality on my Devices, so that costs much space. Also i can't get rid of the pics. It's a shame you still can't transfer albums. If i push the pictures only like that, i have no chance to figure out later on, with which app i did what. I had to do that before i messed up with having to much of them. But it is like it is now ;).

I back up pictures to Aperture on the desktop about once a week and try to keep photoroll on the iPad to a couple thousand images although right now I have probable 1/3 of the 64 gig is photos and videos so time to clean it up....then I would have more space for more apps

I faced the same problem a couple months ago, where I had to help a family member to transfer her 6 albums (about 3200 photos in total) to an external storage and reset her iPad. I've read, pretty sure it was @Piet: does transfer once in a week his apps to the computer. That way you don't loose any Apps because they removed it from Appstore. At my Mac i've activated the automatic download for Apps in iTunes. Now i make sure to start iTunes more often than i did in the past. So at least with the Apps it is a lot better now. ☺️

Thanks, I know about transferring images or a folder etc from the desktop to the iPad. @Apptime was talking about transferring from iOS to the desktop and retaining albums. I've searched a bit more, and found that "iMazing" (which i've got in a Bundle a while a go) can do that job for me. It is, a workaround but it works. For me, the important thing is getting those Albums i have at my Device, to the Computer. If i want them back to my Phone, i'll do it with iTunes-Photo-Sync. Just wanted to let you know.

There is another application called "Phone View" with that one i was able to export my albums too. Phone View also have a limited test-version. To limited for for that we need because only 20 pics can be exported, but better that, then nothing.

I was playing around just a little bit, but i'm pretty sure with these two, the issue we have can be solved - not directly, but i'm satisfied i've at least found a way.

Sorry for a late reply..
I had tried 25 different apps to transfer images from the iPad to an external storage by keeping the photos in albums format, but none the apps really helped.
Then I attempted to use Goodreader app to copy Albums and share them to Mac/PC via its built-in Wifi sharing mode. The app crashed each time it reached copying about half of the images in three albums.

Then I decided to copy the pics to one of the mainstream cloud services, and I chose Microsoft's Onedrive, since the original app from MS allowed me to copy the albums into the cloud.

I wanted to make sure I had a backup of the photos, in case the files didn't transfer properly to Onedrive. So I went back to Goodreader created 6 different folders and started copying the files from Camera folder into corresponding apps in Goodreader. Once they were inside the app, I moved them to my Dropbox cloud storage.

The whole procedure of copying photos onto Onedrive using the original app took about 5 hours, whereas it took me 9 hours to transfer them to Dropbox via Goodreader app.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the above workaround :)
me
(25.12.14 - 17:09)
@Apptime:
Thank's! I'll have a look at that workaround too. The two Apps i've mentioned above, are a good solution for a workaround too (edit: in case having a mac).

Incidentally in the app store, this developer is offering a bundle called, Pixite Photo Kit, which contains the following 5 apps for $5.99 (purchasd separately at the moment, the 5 separate apps would cost $9.95; however, note that 3 of the 5 apps contain in-app purchases, #3 $1.99, #4 $2.99, & #5 $1.99 for the "all packs"); link to this bundle --> https://itunes.apple.com/us/app-bundle/pixite-photo-kit/id918595077?mt=8:

1) Union - Masking and Blending

2) Matter - Add 3D Objects to Photos

Oh wow, i don't know where i had my eyes. I've just retested Photosync. They have a paid Universal Version and a free Version for Mac. With that one, i can transfer my images directly to iPhoto (options are Aperture and a customized folder) AND there an event will be created, which will be called the same as the iOS Album is named. Also the iOS-Photosync-App remember if the images already were transferred. (Don't know how it is when you transfer images to different Clients).

I remember i was really happy back then i've found it (i've bought it quite a while ago, and also left a short comment there), but then i've had some issues with the Mac Version. It was a problem while shutting down the computer - the action was stopped everytime by the Mac-Version of Photosync - so i've got rid of it for a while. It seems they've fixed that since the shutting down process worked fine right now on Mavericks.

Ok, what's even better about it, you can transfer (hold on) pictures from your mac -> to your iDevice - to an existing Album, or even create a new Album for your device! (the biggest image i've transferred was 4236x5740, without any issues).

At the settings on Mac you can set if you want to transfer a reduced image size to the device or the original size. Also you can tell if you want to sort it by Name or by date (ascending or descending). The iOS App have a bunch of useful settings you can adjust, also for example if the proceeds done with iOS-iPhoto-App should be applied.

I've begged it will run on older systems too - and it seems it does. Their pages is telling it will run on Leopard and above. (They have a Windows Version too).

I hope i won't regret i've wrote that enthusiastic, but right now i don't see a thing why i should not highly recommend Photosync (again). Especially for what we were looking for.

All those informations i've got from a quick test, and i thought i write it down and publish it (or spread my beans which i gathered until yet).

(My apologies, all, in advance, for this super long message!!!)
I know the memory clearing app you're thinking of, but, I, too, have been unable to find it or recall its name! I have one on my iPhone, but it's no longer on the AppStore (and was removed MANY years ago) and I want one for my iPad.

I've also tried turning my iPhone off, and back on again, as a test to clear the used memory, and after I did this, I immediately opened up my memory clearing app, to see what the status of my memory would be - and it was very shocking and angering, all at the same time. It was EXTREMELY LOW!

On my iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1, the memory clearing app clears up an average of ~630GB! When I turned my device off and back on again, it is down to, on an average, ~8MG! I was surprised, since that's what Apple has always told us to do to clear our memory, and was angry because they took off all the memory clearing apps!!!

I'm not sure if this occurrence was iOS-specific or not, though, as I hasn't noticed it until my latest iOS update. So, unfortunately, I also don't know if the problem is cleared up with iOS 8, since I don't have enough room, on my iPhone, to update. [Yes, I realize I can do the update through my desktop/laptop, but the desktop I have, that isn't full and works properly, was my mom's MAC laptop, and, although Apple helped me get rid of her laptop's password, I've now run into some sort of "keyring", or something of that nature, passwords that pop up for almost every application on her laptop (some of them are even feature-specific, within the application, "keyring" passwords), and it won't allow me to even use the web browser because of this. I'm sure it can be fixed as well, I just haven't been in the mindset to call Apple and deal with all that computer tech to take care of it.]

So, that's the latest 'Apple aggravation' I've been attempting to come to terms with. Does anyone know whether or not the newer iOS updates resolves this memory issue? I wouldn't have even known it was an issue, except for the old memory clearing app I've managed to hold onto all these years. (And, thank goodness I managed to! I lost the app on one of my older iPhones, so literally, forwent all my newest app downloads, text messages, data, game saves, you name it, and restored my device to an older version of one of my iCloud back-ups, just to get the app restored back to my phone! That may not seem like that big of a deal, but for any of you appoholics, like myself, out there, you are very well aware of the substantial risk I took by doing this! I have SO many apps on my phone, and could never remember the names of all of them - I don't even think it would be possible, especially, since, with the awesome aid of AZ, I download so many new ones all the time! But, desperate measures...!!!!! Lol!)

If anyone has any other solution to our memory problems, I'm all ears. As I said, I recall seeing another app that cleared memory, but it wasn't just for that. It was one of those "Device Info" apps, that tells you what space is used up on your device, how much you have left, what OS you have, what device you have, its IMEI #, its serial number, all that type of tech info, and it also happened to clear up memory. I've looked for it for months, though, all to no avail. I thought I'd put it in one of my AZ Collections, my IT one, but I haven't been able to find it. It may have been removed from the AppStore, and, if that's the case, shows us as a "blank" app in our AZ Collection list, and there's no way of my knowing what app it was, or its name. Feel free, everyone, to look through my IT Collection, and see if you're able to locate it, if you'd like?! Lol!!! Any advice on this issue, would be so very much appreciated!!!!!

@angidazee:
I have been using
Battery Doctor - Must-have Battery Management App by KS Mobile, Inc.
It works pretty good, has a clear memory and a clean junk along with battery info. I have not really checked it out as far as the clean memory but if I use it before some memory intensive photo editing apps like those from Pixite it seems to work good, at least none have his apps have reduced file size to save memory. Ie most of his apps automatically switch to a lower save resolution if it doesn't have memory.

@angidazee:

I read a review of Battery Doctor, that said when it deleted junk files, it actually deleted his music files (without ANY notification). I ran the junk filter one time and it said it found nothing to delete, but I gained 300 MB of free space (what DID it delete?), so I do NOT use that 'feature' anymore. Its memory allocator seems to work OK.

Here is the app I use most of the time. They had a very brief problem with the memory allocator, maybe in November (I forget), so that is why you will see some very annoyed people in the reviews, but it is back and working (I am guessing that it somehow uses their server, because I did not update or do anything at all, and it started working again). I have not used any of its other features; I just use it to free memory.

I am using v1.6.6 and it works. There is a v1.6.7 Update to support iPhone 6 and iOS 8, but I will leave that alone; I am staying with iOS 6.1.3.

Keep in mind that nothing is perfect. I have dozens of apps that keep track of memory and space, and not one of them agrees with any of the others, but they are all kind of relatively close.
Good luck in your search.
